Educating and Inspiring… heart, mind, body, and soul!

Multi-year Strategic Plan

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario is a Catholic educational institution comprised of students, families, staff, parishes, and community members whose voices are consulted, celebrated, and encompassed through our Strategic Plan for 2020-2025.

Cultivating the heart, mind, body, and soul is the foundation of the strategic plan, and each of these components are carefully woven into the fabric of its mission. The plan is anchored by four tenets: believing, protecting, learning, and nurturing. Foremost, the tenet of believing responds to the universal human hunger to know and foster an intimate relationship with God. Protecting calls us to act wisely and justly in promoting actions that ensure the protection of God’s creation. We show our respect for our Creator through stewardship of creation. The tenet of learning acknowledges our commitment to support all students and staff on their faith and learning journey with Christ. Finally, the tenet of nurturing reflects our priority of creating welcoming, Christ-centered communities that foster safe, loving, and inclusive learning for all members of our Catholic school families.

Believing

CATHOLIC GRADUATE EXPECTATION:

  • A discerning believer formed in the Catholic Faith community who celebrates the signs and sacred mystery of God’s presence through word, sacrament, prayer, forgiveness, reflection, and moral living.

DESCRIPTOR:

At the CDSBEO, the tenet of believing responds to the universal human yearning to believe in God and foster that desire by bringing the practice of learning to life through both belief in the teachings of our Catholic faith, as well as actions that allow our faith to be lived out through Catholic traditions and practices, including social justice, community outreach, devotions, and liturgies. Our commitment to faith and belief supports our students in their journey to grow in belief in God and themselves and, ultimately, embody the Catholic Graduate Expectations as we walk together with them on their journey through Catholic education.

Protecting

CATHOLIC GRADUATE EXPECTATIONS:

  • A collaborative contributor who finds meaning, dignity and vocation in work which respects the rights of all and contributes to the common good.
  • A responsible citizen who gives witness to Catholic social teaching by promoting peace, justice, and the sacredness of human life.

DESCRIPTOR:

At the CDSBEO, the tenet of protecting calls us to act wisely by promoting actions that ensure the protection of God’s creation. We show our respect for our Creator through stewardship of creation. We are called to live responsibly by caring for our bodies and by acting in an environmentally ethical way. We are challenged to protect the world for future generations.

Learning

CATHOLIC GRADUATE EXPECTATIONS:

  • An effective communicator who speaks, writes, and listens honestly and sensitively, responding critically in light of gospel values.
  • A reflective, creative, and holistic thinker who solves problems and makes responsible decisions with an informed moral conscience for the common good.
  • A self-directed, responsible, lifelong learner who develops and demonstrates their God-given potential.

DESCRIPTOR:

At the CDSBEO, the tenet of learning acknowledges our commitment to support all students on their faith and learning journey with Christ. We believe that everyone has the capacity to learn and to play a unique and valuable role in the community beyond the classroom. We provide diverse opportunities for learning and prepare our students for a challenging and ever-changing world. We embrace learning with a growth-mindset rooted in Christ through mind, body, heart, and soul.

Nurturing

CATHOLIC GRADUATE EXPECTATIONS:

  • A caring family member who attends to family, school, parish, and the wider community.
  • A responsible citizen who gives witness to Catholic social teaching by promoting peace, justice, and the sacredness of human life.

DESCRIPTOR:

At the CDSBEO, the tenet of nurturing reflects our priority of creating welcoming, Christ-centered communities that foster safe, loving, and inclusive learning for all members of our Catholic schools. At the heart of our vision, we support the God-given dignity and worth of every person. We deeply feel the need for social and emotional well-being for all of us as we promote resiliency, achievement, and success.
